Soils govern terrestrial and aquatic systems and this is one of the first studies Justin has completed linking soils with rivers. In the study, the urbanized watershed of the Thames River watershed (specifically the subwatersheds: Shetucket, Yantic, and Quinebaug) are compared with the rural, mountainous Deerfield watershed (specifically the subwatersheds: Cold River and Clesson Brook).
