In November 2014, I attended the first SSSA/ASA/CSSA tri-soceity Graduate Student Leadership Conference. Prior to the general meeting, students were accepted into a two day even geared at developing professionalism, career development, and community among graduate students of the tri-societies. The first day focused on professional demeanor and presentation. I organized an evening event with a guest speaker Jeff Hattey, Professor of Soil and Environmental Science at Oregon State University. The second day covered management styles and personalities, which broke off into seminars on teaching and consulting. Overall, it was a highly successful event which taught a diverse group of students on professionalism and career development. I look forward to seeing this continue in the future!
